Tax Free Shopping Week Back To School Guide - (cool) progeny

Maryland kicked off it’s annual Tax Free Shopping Week last Sunday — just in time for back to school shopping! What does that mean? No tax on qualifying clothing and shoe wear purchases under $100 from participating retailers. You got it. 6% sales-tax savings just for shopping this week. As if we really needed a reason to spruce up the kiddos’ closets for fall…

We scoured our fav Baltimore kids boutiques and manufacturers to come up with 30 fabulous back-to-school buys that you can nab tax free until Sunday! Stylish, modern, comfy and easy-to-care for options (read: don’t require ironing). Everything is, of course, under $100.

Buying local never looked so (cool).

Baby and Toddler

They may not be headed into the classroom, they will be the chicest ones at your first mommy and me music class. Stripes and peplum are hot (yes, even for the non-walking types). Comfort and cozy paired with style that’s easy for mom manipulation. So you can change a diaper without standing on your head.

Preschool

Preschool is all about playclothes that pull double duty: great for circle time AND monkey bar swinging. A definite deal-killer? Anything that itches. Mix and match separates are perfect for little people who have stylish minds of their own. Just buy in a coordinating color palate! Brands like Tea Collection and Pink Chicken make it easy. Here are our top story-time-jungle-gym picks.

Elementary School

Forget solids. This fall, it’s all about the prints. Skip the cartoony mass-produced options in favor of graphic done in pint-sized sophistication. These easy-to-wear and (ahem, easy-to-wash) options go from math class to after-school playdate with ease. Yeah, we’re even encouraging your fashionista to style with glitter.
