What's Up for the Weekend - March 22-24

Welcome spring! There are lots of things happening around town to get you out and about this weekend. Here are our picks for kid-friendly events and fun for Baltimore families!

Community Arts Night at the National Aquarium
The National Aquarium is celebrating arts in the community with art exhibits, music, dance, poetry and songs! An exhibit of artwork produced by Collington Square School participants and the Creative Alliance are among the artwork that will be on display. You’re invited to enjoy the artwork, be inspired by the poetry, and listen to the music and dance along with us! Friday, 6 PM – 9 PM MORE INFORMATION

Movie Night with Loyola LAX
Movie Night this Friday at Ridley Athletic Complex! Come watch Loyola’s Women’s Lacrosse team take on Louisville at 6 pm followed by a special showing of Disney’s Brave shown on the videoboard. Admission is free for both game and movie! MORE INFORMATION

American Girl Fashion Show
The American Girl Fashion Show® is a fun-filled afternoon for girls and their families, friends and favorite dolls. It is an innovative way to raise funds for children’s causes. Featuring historical and contemporary fashions for both girls and their dolls, the show comes alive with the host organization’s models. A commentator’s script gives the audience girl-friendly pieces of fashion-related history that tie into the stories of the American Girl characters, as well as insight into how fashion can give girls a way to express their own unique personalities. Natural Egg Dying at Irvine Nature Center
Play with beautiful colors – made only with nature’s ingredients – and dye some eggs! All dyeing materials are included; just bring up to a dozen hard-boiled eggs and wear clothes that can get messy. To get the brightest color, eggs will stay at Irvine overnight and can be picked up 9 a.m.-5 p.m. any day of the week. Saturday, 10 AM – 11:30 AM MORE INFORMATION

DBFA 6th Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Join DBFA in partnership with Friends of Patterson Park and Gallery Church of Baltimore for an EGGStraordinary event featuring face painting, photo ops with the Easter Bunny, prizes, food and drinks, and egg hunts for kids ages 0 to 10. Registration for the egg hunt begins at 9 am. at the Eastern Avenue Playground Pavilion. 0-3 years: 10am-10:20am; 4-7 years: 10:40am-11am; 8-10 years: 11:20am-11:40am. Be sure to bring a basket! Kerplunk at the Creative Alliance
Open to families and kids of all ages! The galleries are beautiful, so simply drop in to The Patterson for a tour and family art making fun. They provide all materials. Great instructors guide you as get in touch with your creative side. Stop in for a quick visit or stay for the entire afternoon to make a collage, drawing, or sculpture. Maryland Farms Awareness Day at The Maryland Zoo
Fun activities straight off the farm. Join Maryland Zoo donkeys, goats, chickens and more in the Zoo’s Farmyard as they host a day full of interactive experiences, demonstrations, keeper chats and educational activities. It’ll be a ‘barn’ good time! As part of this special day of activities, you can see a sheep shearing demonstration featuring our Cotswald sheep. Kids Crafts at The Enchanted Forest Springs Again
The Enchanted Forest Springs Again – Annual Spring Flower Show at Rawlings Conservatory! Join them as they celebrate the Conservatory’s 125th year and take a leap back in time to revisit another favorite Baltimore destination. This year’s spring show is inspired by the historic Enchanted Forest in Ellicott City — where the fairy tale continues, “happily ever after.” From 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday, kids can welcome springtime in their Enchanted Forest Bulb Garden. Kids Comedy Sunday
Check out one of the nation’s top kid friendly comedy magicians Tim Hall at Magooby’s Joke House. Winner of several prestigious awards, Tim draws huge crowds wherever he performs. Pumpkin Theatre Presents Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz

Fashion Your Own Elegant Jewelry at the Baltimore Museum of Art
The BMA is the place to be for free family fun! Every Sunday at 2 p.m., enjoy different activities—sketching tours, hands-on workshops, gallery tours, and more—designed just for families. Look for Henri Matisse’s dog Raoudi (pronounced “rowdy”), the BMA’s guide for family art adventures. This perky schnauzer from the much-loved painting Interior with Dog will be popping up all over the Museum. Wherever you find him, you’ll know that fun for the whole family will soon follow!
