new family bike party launches in baltimore – THIS weekend!

bikeride

Been looking for a fun, family-friendly bike ride route around Baltimore City? Have we got the ride for you!

The first Baltimore Family Bike Party ride begins and ends at Our Playground at Stadium Place THIS Saturday afternoon. Located at the YMCA at the corner of 33rd Street and Ellerslie, Our Playground was built entirely by volunteers and is a great destination for everyone from toddlers to big kids. The ride will take participants along the Guilford Avenue bike boulevard along with a few quiet neighborhood streets in Abell and Ednor Gardens.

What is the Baltimore Family Bike Party?

The Baltimore Family Bike Party is a safe and fun bike ride for kids and families. They are inspired by Kidical Mass – a group bike ride for families first held in April 2008 in Eugene, Oregon. Kidical Mass has grown to over a dozen communities throughout the United States and Canada – now including Baltimore! Saturday’s ride will be short (around 2 miles) and comfortable for young children on two-wheeled bikes. For toddlers or children who are still a bit unsteady on their own (sorry, no training wheels on this ride!), check out the Totcyle Family Biking Ages & Stages guide for plenty of suggestions on how to use seats, trailers, cargo bikes and more to keep your whole family rolling.

Heather is editor-in-chief of (cool) progeny. When not scouting the best in everything kid and family, you'll probably find her running The Weisse Group or adventuring around town with her daughter (the Bug) and husband. Can be won over with a good glass of wine or something homemade. Addicted to Pinterest. Only pretends to know what she's doing with her SLR, even though she's got a fantastic lens on it. Thankful it does most of the work for her.

we are modern family

Who, us? We’re putting (cool) back in to the crazy, upside down world of modern parenting. All about raising fun, fashionable, active little thinkers with a strong cuppa coffee on the side.

Takes the Cake. You may know Mary Alice from her reality tv days or from her work at Charm City Cakes, but around this little slice of internet, we adore her for her wit. We love a mom with the two must-have senses for parenthood: common sense and a sense of humor.
