I’m beyond excited to be speaking along with Heidi Vorassi, Downtown Baltimore Family Alliance President, at the Live Baltimore Six O’Clock session on Families in the City this Thursday. If you’re looking for information on why city family life is (cool) — or your looking for resource ideas, this is the place to be Thursday evening! What am I talking about? Well, what to do and where to go with kids in Baltimore.

For those of you who can’t make Thursday’s session, here’s a little bit of what I’m planning to share (in addition to where to find family-friendly events and Baltimore-City centric blogs I love!}

15 Family Freebies in Baltimore City
{because who doesn’t love a free adventure}

The Walters Art Museum and Drop in Art
Many people don’t know that admission to The Walter’s Art Museum is 100% free. Their kid-friendly art space? AH-mazing. And you can drop in and make art for free on the weekends.

The Baltimore Museum of Art & Sculpture Garden
Just like the Walters, the BMA is FREE for all. Every Sunday, they sponsor free family programming and projects from 2 PM – 4 PM. Our favorite space at the BMA? Their uber (cool) sculpture garden.

Baltimore Farmer’s Market
Lots of sounds, lots of flavors, lots of color. And our favorite place to shop.

Visit the Playground at Stadium Place
One of the best playgrounds in the city. Hands down.

Play the Giant Xylophone at Pierce’s Park
Pierce’s park is a bevy of nature-inspired play things. Including a giant xylophone. So much fun.

Ride Around the Reservoir
Don’t have a bike or kid-safe place to ride near your house? Baltimore Rec and Parks sponsors FREE ride around the reservoir events every Wednesday and Thursday evening at Druid Hill Park. They even provide bikes and gear for all ages.

The American Visionary Art Museum (Kids under 6 are free!)
Not free for adults, but kids under 6 always get in free. A great place to foster imagination and creativity (even if you just walk around the outside!).

Waterfront Kids Classes and Waterfront Wellness for adults!
Waterfront Partnership offers FREE classes for kids and adults all summer long at West Shore Park.

Story Time with Urban Pirates
Story time is always fun. But it’s even MORE fun aboard a pirate ship. With pirates reading, don’t you think?

Enoch Pratt Library (and the uber fun Fairy Tale Festival)
Enoch Pratt Libraries are always hosting fun, free events. One of our favs? Their annual fairy tale festival. Perfect for the pint-sized royals in your life.

Mini Train Rides at Leakin Park
Miniature train rides. ‘Nuff said.

Take a Walk at Cylburn Arboretum
You don’t have to leave the city limits to get your hike on. The Cylburn Arboretum is a great place for trail walking!

Friday Nights at Belvedere Square
Free music and quick access to great food. Fab Friday night.

(Cool) Progeny Play Dates
Yeah, had to put a plug-in for events. 🙂

Charm City Circulator
Yes, the bus is a major attraction for mini-mes. Who knew?
