what’s up for the weekend: july 13th-15th


Wow, is there a lot going on this weekend in and around Charm City! Green Spring Station’s major sidewalk sale, mud fun, free art activities, our Lunch Money concert… it’s hard to pick our favs. But, here goes: our best bets for family fun this weekend are…

FREE Lunch Money Concert at West Shore Park
We {love} great kids’ music. And Lunch Money, the South Carolina kindie band, just happens to be one of our favorites. So we are beyond thrilled to partner with Waterfront Partnershipto bring this band LIVE to West Shore Park on July 15th for a FREE family concert. The event starts at 4:30 PM and the band starts performing at 5. FREE (but please RSVP).

Green Spring Station’s Annual Sidewalk Sale
You may want to leave the kiddos at home for this one — but it promises to be tons of fun for shopping-savvy moms! Up to 75% off some of your most fave brands (and the ones you don’t even realize are your favorites). A few of our fav deals? All clearance an additional 25% off at Wee Chic. Buy 4+ sale items and get 35% off. Fire(fly) Works at Irvine Nature Center
The fireworks are over, but the fireflies are just getting started! Join Irvin Nature Center as they explore the amazing world of these luminescent beetles, play games and create some “cold light” of their own! All ages (with adult) on Friday from 8 PM – 9 PM. Free for members; $10 for non-members.

Teddy Bear Picnic at Port Discovery
Join Port Discovery for a special Littles Day dedicated to children ages 5 and under on Saturday. The Teddy Bear picnic takes places 12:30-1:30p.m., The Kindersinger will perform at 1:30p.m. and 2p.m.. Plus, moon bounce and astro events from 10a.m.-4:30p.m. Regular museum admission required

Frog Frolic at Anita C. Leight Estuary Center
Discover the world of frogs and frog adaptations at Otterpoint Creek this Saturday! Join a naturalist for a guided hike, stories, and games. It’ll be a hopping good time from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM.

KERPLUNK! With The Creative Alliance
Open to families and kids of all ages! Refresh yourself by creating art in a comfy environment. It?s easy to drop into Creative Alliance at The Patterson for family art making fun. Tour our gallery exhibits and create artwork in response. Engaging art teachers lead projects and are there to assist. This Saturday’s activity? Design your own shades! No registration required. Noon-3pm. FREE.

Poetry in Motion at the REGGIE
Discover the magical world of poetry with several fun-filled writing activities and games, and be introduced to several poetic forms. Listen to African American poems from Hip Hop Speaks to Children edited by Nikki Giovanni and create a concrete work that combines poetry and art. Ages 6-10. Reservation required. Saturday from 1 PM – 4 PM.

Got Mud? Days at Oregon Ridge Park
Get down and dirty in some muddy fun at Oregon Ridge Park this Saturday and Sunday. From 2 PM – 4PM,  make mud pies, mud sculptures, mud paintings, and more! Then rinse off in their sprinkler.  $3 for non members, $2 for members.

Pirate Fest
Where It All Began in 1635! ARGHHHH! Come experience a live Pirate Encampment on the scenic grounds of the Lock House Museum and discover your inner pirate! 2 days of swashbuckling fun, including costume contests, tales of the high seas, live music and more. Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM.
