I love (I mean love) when design and children’s products intersect in a beautiful way. So it’s no surprise that I fell head over heels for this little board book by Orla Kiely at The Children’s Bookstore last week. Grown-up style goes pint-sized.

Selected Orla Kiely patterns were reworked to create this stylish numbers book that will put your Little People-like one to shame. It doesn’t sing. No whiz bang pop-out art that little hands can pull. Just beautiful illustrations that will engage babies and young children alike.

Sweet, simple, gorgeous. A perfect baby gift. Plus it looks fabulous on the bookshelf, too.

Kiely is an Irish-born designer known for unique graphic patterns and expressive use of color. Coveting her apparel and bags? {What mom doesn’t} You might want to check out her biography Pattern. Published in 2010, the book traces the pattern of her Kiely’s development as a designer and inspiring insights that can help helps develop a creative eye for color, shape, form – and of course, pattern!

If you haven’t been to The Children’s Bookstore, it’s worth a jaunt over to Roland Park. They have a wonderful selection of toddler story hour every Friday morning at 9:30 AM.
