Our public service announcement for the week: This Sunday is Mother’s Day! So be sure to show your mama — or your wife — a little love. Luckily, if you missed the annual day of appreciation memo, there are lots of things to do get everyone our of the house this weekend. {NOTE: A few hours of quiet? It’s cheap and a GREAT gift!} Here are our picks for family fun in and around Baltimore this weekend! Be sure to check our calendar for a complete list.

Federal Hill May Maddness
Come join friends, neighbors, and business owners from Federal Hill for May Madness this spring. The event will take place on Friday, May 11th from 6-10PM. Just like the popular Moonlight Madness, shops and galleries around Cross Street Market will stay open late and offer refreshments, discounts, and specials to shoppers. Make sure to pick up a May Madness Passport and get it stamped at 10 participating businesses to be entered to win prizes!

Imagination Movers at the Hippodrome
Want to add some rock n’ roll excitement and entertainment to your family’s life’ Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty – of the Emmy-winning Disney Channel TV series “Imagination Movers” – will be bringing their high-octane rock concert to the Hippodrome Theater, May 11th, 2012. It’s an event the whole family can enjoy. Two shows on Friday!

4th Annual Guys’ Night Out Poker Tournament
Tonight at Langerman’s! The DBFA 4th Annual Guys’ Night Out Poker Tournament, features a silent auction (Just in time for Mother’s Day– we’ve done the thinking for you!), free food, exclusive drink specials and One non-cash prize (valued at over $500). Tickets required.

BIG Trucks Day!
It’s back! Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy this opportunity to see, touch and sit in some of the biggest vehicles in the City’s fleet. Those on display will include “Big Bertha” the City’s largest Tow Truck along with Fire Engines and Trucks, Police Cars and Motorcycles, Rescue Vehicles and a REALLY, REALLY BIG Fireboat – shooting up massive plumes of water. Nearly 20 vehicles and equipment will be on-show for our citizens that day. Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Discounted admission to Baltimore Museum of Industry, too!

Mother’s Day Tea at the Y (all weekend!)
Celebrate a special Mothers Day at the Y of Central Maryland! Mothers and daughters can spend quality time while enjoying a light lunch, tea, lemonade, and desserts. Guests will also participate in mother- daughter activities including games, crafts, stories and more! This event is for mothers and daughters ages 3 and up. You must register at your nearest family center Y.

Paws on Parade
Join the Parade and raise funds to benefit Baltimore Humane Society while having fun on our beautiful grounds! Bring your pet, your friends, and your family! Enjoy either a 1-mile or 1.6-mile trail walk through our beautiful 365-acre wildlife sanctuary, plus other fun and educational activities for you, your family, and your furry friends! Saturday from 10 AM – 2:00 PM.

Let’s Eat Charles Street Block Party
They’re closing the entire 300 block of North Charles Street on Saturday, May 12 to host the 2012 Let’s Eat Charles Street block party. Enjoy great food & beverages, clothing, jewelry and other vendors, music, an appearance by the Oriole Bird, and even a few surprises!

Pizza Garden at Irvine Nature Center
ho doesn’t like pizza?! We can teach you to organically grow the fresh ingredients for pizza sauce in unconventional containers like old cans, bottles and even shoes! Each family plants and decorates their pizza garden to take home. All supplies are provided. All ages. Sunday from 2:00 PM _-3:00 PM.

Celebrate Mother’s Day at Charm City Kids Club
What’s the perfect way to spend Mother’s Day? Moms, Grandmothers and special friends are invited to celebrate Mother’s Day at CCKC. Children will create an extra special Mother’s Day gift made with love. (Just learned that this event was canceled. – Heather)
