What a big weekend for families in and around Baltimore! There are lots of things happening this weekend. Family concerts with the BSO, Privateer Day in Fells Point, Earth Day festivities at your favorite museums, Kids Unplugged at Irvine Nature Center… and so much more! BSO Family Concert: Babar
There is definitely an elephant in the room when beloved children’s book Babar the Elephant comes to life on the Meyerhoff stage. As the BSO Performs Francis Poulenc’s lively and light-hearted music, listen to the instruments of the orchestra reveal the many characters from the book. Award-winning cartoonist Angie Jordan will illustrate the story live onstage, whisking your family away to Babar’s elephant Kingdom. Saturday at 11:00 AM.

Annapolis Book Festival
Now in its tenth year, the Annapolis Book Festival has become one of the premier community events in the region. Last year more than 2,000 people attended this free community Festival that celebrates the beauty, power, passion, and excitement of the written word. The Annapolis Book Festival brings nationally renowned authors to The Key School in Annapolis, Maryland, to discuss their books and the craft of writing. The Festival also features Annapolis Town Crier Squire Frederick, children’s activities, live music, a huge used book sale, and a coffee shop. Saturday from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Privateer Day in Fells Point
Bring your family and friends to Fell’s Point on Saturday, April 21st for a FREE day full of fun-filled activities from Thames Street Park and Ann Street Pier to Broadway Square, Broadway Pier and Bond Street Wharf! From 11am to 6pm come help celebrate the rich maritime and privateer history of Fell’s Point and learn the difference between a pirate and a privateer! Saturday from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Earth Day Celebration at The Maryland Science Center
Discover fun, family-friendly ways to live a green lifestyle at the Maryland Science Center’s annual Earth Day celebration, Saturday April 21, from noon until 4 p.m. Eco experts from the area’s greenest groups will show visitors how they can help conserve our planet’s resources.

EcoFest
A one day festival celebrating a healthier and more sustainable Baltimore by welcoming local green business vendors, neighborhood and non-profit exhibitors to offer hands on workshops and share what locally made wares and services are available here in town! LOTS of kid friendly activities, including biking around the reservoir. Saturday from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Fairy Tale Ball
It’s the 10th Annual Fairy Tale Festival and we’re celebrating with Preschool Fairy Tale Ball! There will be live music, dancing, stories, and crafts. Please wear your finest attire or dress up as a prince or princess. Saturday from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

Tom Lilly in Balloonacy
Tom Lilly returns to the Chesapeake Arts Center with his wacky, family friendly show. A delightful show that combines magic, juggling, and balloonacy with loads of audience participation to produce a show that leaves all ages laughing and wondering. Saturday at 4:00 PM.

Earth Day Fun at the National Aquarium (All weekend!)
Join The National Aquarium s as they  celebrate Earth Day! Talk to our conservation team on ways you can help save the planet at home. More fun activities to be included such as crafting from recyclable materials. Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

aMuse Toys Sidewalk Sale

Irvine Nature Center’s get outside initiative, Kids Unplugged, encourages families to unplug from video games, television and other forms of electronics to participate in activities focused on Mother Earth. At Irvine, children can explore the forest, make recycled crafts, encounter animals and spend time enjoying nature. It’s a great way for families to celebrate Earth Day together. All ages. Sunday from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
