I just heard on the radio that the forecast for this weekend is mid 70s and SUNNY. Perfect excuse to get out of the house and enjoy all that’s happening around town. For a full list of events, check out our calendar and our Free Fall Baltimore Family Guide. Here are our top 5 picks for hot tot events around Charm City this weekend:

1. Art Cart Derby in Highlandtown: On Saturday,  Gough St. in Highlandtown will transform from roadway into raceway as intergenerational teams compete in the first annual Art Cart Derby. Inspired by classic soapbox racing, the Art Cart Derby is a downhill race between gravity-powered carts with a single driver. Too fun. The races start at 2:00 PM. Live music, too.

2. Pumpkinfest at Irvine Nature Center: Celebrate fall with this annual family festival. This two-day event (Saturday and Sunday) will include crafts, games, activites and more. Pick a pumpkin, build a scarecrow, and enjoy the season.

3. Vegtoberfest: Need a fun way to get your kids to eat their veggies? Head to the 1st Annual Vegtoberfest on Sunday! It’s is a FREE fall festival to celebrate healthy, sustainable and compassionate vegan food choices and lifestyles. Vegtoberfest will be held at Riverside Park in south Baltimore. Fun for all ages! They promise music, food and children’s activities.

4. Puppets in the Garden: Watch the finest puppeteers from Baltimore and beyond perform in Black Cherry’s performance garden and make your own puppets to take home throughout the afternoon on Sunday.   In case of rain, performances will be held inside the Black Cherry Theater. Admission is free with seating first come first serve, so come early and save your seats. Please call 410.752.7272 or email info@blackcherry.org for more information.

5. World Rhythm Drum Circles: Join the drumming circle which will feature drums, shakers, scrapers and boom whackers.  No musical experience necessary!  The World Rhythm Drum Circus will take place directly outside of the Port Discovery Children’s Museum on Sunday from noon to 1:30 PM.  It’s a FREE event! {Note Museum admission is not included}.
